Cole Thomas Allen is the shooter in the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, according to the BBC.
The 31-year-old man from Torrance, California worked as a teacher and video game developer from Southern California, according to public records, CNN reports.
On his LinkedIn profile, Allen notes that he graduated from the California Institute of Technology in 2017 with a degree in mechanical engineering and earned a master’s degree in computer science from California State University-Dominguez Hills last year.
Jeffrey W. Carroll, the chief of the D.C. police, revealed that the suspect was a guest of the hotel where the event was held and his room has been sealed so he can be searched.
The US President posted a photo of the suspect on Truth Social and said: “It was, in a way, very good, really very good that we saw someone storm into a security checkpoint armed with multiple weapons and be taken out by some very brave members of the Secret Service, who took action very quickly.”
