The countdown to the World Championships in Torun has begun, with 674 athletes from 118 federations preparing to compete at the premier event, which will take place from March 20-22.
A total of 345 men and 329 women will participate, while among the athletes are several of the biggest names in world athletics and, of course, members of the Greek team.
Emmanuel Karalis in the pole vault and Miltos Tendoglou in the long jump are two of the big stars of the event and will be challenging to be on the winners’ podium once again in their careers.
Karalis’ 6.17m in Peania is second behind Duplantis’ world record of 6.31m, while Tendoglou’s 8.27m is fourth among the 17 participants. The performance that will give him a good placing is also claimed by the in-form Antonis Merlos in the high jump.
