Russia will divert oil supplies from Kazakhstan previously destined for Germany via the Druzhba oil pipeline in other directions starting May 1, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said today.
Novak said the logistical change was due to “technical possibilities” and has been agreed with Kazakhstan.
“The Germans have given up Russian oil, so they are doing well,” Novak said of Europe’s decision to cut energy imports from Russia.
Reuters reported on Tuesday that Russia intends to stop exports from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba oil pipeline starting May 1.
Kazakhstan’s energy minister said on Wednesday that there is no planned flow of Kazakh oil through the Russian Druzhba pipeline to Germany in May, a disruption he said was likely caused by Ukrainian drone attacks.
