Iran is showing a negative attitude towards the continuation of negotiations with the United States, against the backdrop of the end of the ceasefire.
In a post on Telegram, it spoke of the lack of prospects for meaningful dialogue, stressing that “under these circumstances there are no promising prospects for constructive negotiations”, without attributing the statement to a specific official.
The development comes just 24 hours before the expiry of the two-month ceasefire, just as Donald Trump had announced the dispatch of a US delegation to Pakistan to begin a new round of talks in Islamabad.
However, Tehran appears to reject the possibility of participation, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the diplomatic process.
Recall that the ceasefire expires at midnight Tuesday into Wednesday, with the US president already warning of possible military action if the negotiations fail.
Despite the tension, the remaining time frame leaves open the possibility of reversals, as has happened in the recent past.
