Two Indian-flagged ships carrying crude oil were attacked today while trying to cross the Straits of Hormuz, India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed in a statement.

Tehran’s ambassador to New Delhi, Mohammad Fattahli , was called for a meeting with Indian Foreign Minister Vikram Mishri, during which Mishri conveyed India’s deep concern over the firing incident involving two Indian-flagged ships in the Straits of Hormuz. Mishri urged the ambassador to convey India’s views to the Iranian authorities and resume the process of facilitating the passage of India-bound ships through the Straits at the earliest.
