US President Donald Trump said tonight that “we are very close” to reaching a deal with Iran as “great progress” has been made and the Iranians “are now willing to do things” they previously denied.
Trump said the next meeting between US and Iranian representatives might take place this weekend and noted that he is “not sure” that the ceasefire needs to be extended. If there is no agreement, “the fighting will resume,” he said.
If there is an agreement, “oil will come down, prices will come down and inflation will come down,” he added.
According to the US president, “Iran has agreed to almost everything”, agreed not to get a nuclear weapon for more than 20 years and “to give us back our nuclear dust” (i.e. enriched uranium).
Trump also said that if a deal is signed with Iran in Islamabad, he might go to Pakistan himself for the ceremony.
