The Ecumenical Patriarchate and himself personally expresses the deepest sorrow for the victims of the armed attack that took place on Wednesday at the Ayser Çalık school in Kahramanmaras, in a message from Ecumenical Patriarch Mgr.Bartholomew, the Holy Father of the Catholic Church, has sent a message to the Holy See in his homeland. And he says he is shocked, because within 24 hours two similar tragic incidents have occurred in schools in the country with deaths and injuries.
“We are shocked to see the dramatic events that took place in our country’s schools in Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa. This is an unspeakable tragedy. In the face of these absolutely reprehensible phenomena of unprecedented violence, we all, the State and citizens, intellectuals and parents, must take action to prevent them from happening again in the future. We must stand by our youth, who, unfortunately, as is the case throughout the world, are now more exposed than ever to images of violence. That is why we must all work together to build a wall against violence, against addiction to violence.”
“I pray, with great emotion, to God to rest the souls of the young children and the teacher who lost their lives, and to strengthen their grieving relatives. I also pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in these two attacks,” the Ecumenical Patriarch added in his message.
