Iran said today that messaging with the US is continuing, via Pakistan, after the failure of negotiations between the two warring countries in Islamabad over the weekend.

“Since Sunday, when the Iranian delegation returned to Tehran, many messages have been exchanged through Pakistan,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei.

“Today (Wednesday), we are likely to receive a Pakistani delegation to continue the discussions held in Islamabad,” he said during a weekly press conference. He added that the Pakistani delegation might convey messages from the US.

He said reports of an extension of the ceasefire in the US-Israel war against Iran were not confirmed.

He also stressed that no date has yet been set for a new round of negotiations.
