On Easter Monday, Hakan Fidan spoke about the war raging in the Middle East, Israel and the cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Israel.

Turkey’s Foreign Minister referred to Greece, saying its cooperation with Cyprus and Israel only creates distrust rather than trust. “The partnerships that they carry out bring more problems, they bring war,” Hakan Fidan said specifically.

On the Strait of Hormuz which is at the heart of the war in the Middle East, Hakan Fidan said that the world’s goal is the free passage of ships and their opening by peaceful means. It will be recalled that Donald Trump announced a naval blockade of Iran’s ports and the Strait of Hormuz.

“The whole world wants international transit not to be obstructed. Our position is to open it through peaceful means. There are difficulties in intervening here with an international peacekeeping force,” he said.

About the US-Iran ceasefire, the Turkish foreign minister said both sides are sincere and have realized how much they need it.

The Turkish minister said Middle Eastern countries must commit themselves, within the framework of an allied security pact, to the territorial integrity, sovereignty and security of the countries.

Referring to Israel, where a new cycle of confrontations has begun between Benjamin Netanyahu and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, he said Tel Aviv cannot live without enemies.

He also stressed that Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to declare Turkey as Israel’s new enemy.

On Israeli attacks in Syria, he said: “We see huge problems in Syria. This is a big danger for us. Israel is not taking certain actions against Syria because of the war raging in Iran, but that doesn’t mean it won’t. When the time comes, it will want to do so.”

About the NATO summit to be held in Turkey, Hakan Fidan said that “it will probably be the most important, but also the most critical summit in the history of NATO.”
