The speaker of the Iranian parliament today demanded a ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of his country’s assets before any peace negotiations with the United States, as talks are scheduled to begin tomorrow, Saturday, in Pakistan.

“Two of the measures the sides have agreed to are yet to be implemented: A ceasefire in Lebanon and the release of Iran’s assets before the start of negotiations,” Mohammad Bayr Galibaf wrote on his X-platform account. “These two issues must be resolved before negotiations can begin.”

Talks are scheduled in Pakistan between Iran and the United States, whose Vice President J.D. Vance is expected in Islamabad on Saturday.
