Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned today against any “provocative action” ahead of a vote expected to be held at the UN Security Council on the use of force to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

This strategic sea route to the global hydrocarbons market has been almost completely blocked by Iran in response to US-Israeli strikes launched against its territory since February 28.

“Mr. Araghchi stresses that any provocative action by the aggressors and their supporters, including at the UN Security Council, regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz will only further complicate the situation,”

a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
