At least six Palestinians, including a child, were killed in two Israeli airstrikes on two Hamas-led police checkpoints in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian enclave health officials said, in the latest episode of violence despite a US-sponsored ceasefire that took effect more than five months ago.

According to health officials in Gaza, three policemen and three civilians, including a girl, were killed and four other people were injured in Israeli aircraft strikes on two police checkpoints in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military has so far not commented on this information.

According to local health officials, more than 680 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed by Israeli army fire since the ceasefire agreement with Hamas came into effect in October.

Also according to Gaza health authorities, more than 72.000 people have been killed since the war between Hamas and Israel began in October 2023, which was sparked by an attack by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, 2023 in which 1,200 people were killed, according to Israeli accounts.

The violence in Gaza persists despite a ceasefire and amid Israel and the US war with Iran. Gaza health officials say at least 50 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the conflict with Iran began a month ago.
