The Thai government announced that it has struck a deal with Iran to allow its tankers carrying oil to transit the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, which has been effectively closed since the outbreak of war in the Middle East a month ago.

“An agreement has now been reached to allow Thai oil tankers to safely transit the Strait of Hormuz, helping to alleviate concerns about the transportation of fuel to Thailand,” the kingdom’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnviracul assured during a press conference.
