In a joint communiqué on the crisis in the Middle East and Iran, the G7 Foreign Ministers (Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States) call for an immediate end to attacks on civilians and infrastructure, stressing the need to coordinate efforts to provide humanitarian aid.

“There is no excuse for deliberately targeting civilians in armed conflicts or for carrying out attacks on diplomatic facilities,” the seven ministers said in their communiqué, while announcing their intention to work together to “mitigate global economic shocks that directly affect citizens, such as disruptions in economic, energy, trade and fertilizer supply chains.” Finally, they stress the need for the permanent restoration of free and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and the Law of the Sea.
