An alarm has been raised by authorities in Norwich, Britain, as a 16-year-old schoolboy was arrested after a knife attack on a fellow pupil.

The incident took place at Thorpe St Andrew’s School, near Norwich, Britain ,this Wednesday morning (11.03.2026). The school was immediately put on lockdown while armed police officers and drones were mobilised to track down the knife-wielding attacker.

Security protocols were immediately activated at the school with students instructed to hide under their desks and turn off their mobile phones, while teachers reportedly barricaded classroom doors to protect students.

Armed police officers rushed to the scene to search for the suspect, who initially reportedly fled the school premises by jumping a fence. Officers searched for him for more than an hour until he was finally arrested at about 11:30am.

The student who was injured, who is believed to be in 10th grade and is between the ages of 14 and 15, was taken to the hospital and authorities say her injuries are described as minor.

At the same time, outside the school, there was intense concern with parents being informed of the incident and rushing to the scene asking police authorities for information about their children’s condition. Investigations into the circumstances of the attack are continuing.

“Let the children out,” one parent shouted at police officers, while another said: “If my son is hiding under a table and someone comes with a knife, I want him to know he’s getting close.”

At the same time, students who were able to contact their families described the fear inside the school. One student texted his family, writing “I’m really scared,” while another said he “just wants to go home.”
