The White House assured today that talks are continuing with Iran to end the war, despite denials in recent days by Iranian leaders.
“The talks are ongoing, they are productive, as President (Donald Trump) said on Monday,” White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told reporters at the briefing, denying that those negotiations are at an impasse.
The spokeswoman also questioned the contents of a US 15-point plan widely circulated in the press. “The White House has never confirmed this plan in its entirety. There are some facts that are true, but some of the articles I have read are not fully substantiated,” he said.
Levitt also said the US government has not set a “timetable” for the resumption of tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. The United States is monitoring “very closely” how the tankers transit the Strait, he said.
