Gulf states and Jordan today called on the Iraqi government to take “immediate” steps to stop attacks launched by pro-Iranian organizations from Iraqi territory against neighboring countries.

The joint statement is signed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan. It says the call is for maintaining “brotherly relations” and avoiding further escalation.

Some Iraqi armed organizations belonging to the pro-Iranian network “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” claim responsibility for “dozens” of drone and rocket attacks against “the enemy” in Iraq and the Middle East every day, without naming a specific country.

Since the start of Israel and the US war against Iran, Iranian-backed Iraqi militias have claimed responsibility for attacks on several US bases in the region.
