The US will resume strikes against Iran as the pause only applies to attacks on Tehran’s energy facilities, according to international digital news platform Semafor, which quoted a US official yesterday, Monday.
Earlier yesterday, US President Donald Trump had announced that he was postponing for five days his plan to hit Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure, and spoke of “productive” talks with Iranian officials he did not name.
“The five-day halt to the attacks is only on their energy facilities,” a US official told Semafor.
“It’s not for the military installations and the Navy and the ballistic missiles and the defence industrial base. The initial initiatives of (Operation) Epic Wrath will continue,” he told the news platform.
Reuters was not immediately able to verify the information. The White House, State Department and Pentagon did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside of business hours.
The Semafor report also added that Israel is not involved in Washington’s talks with Tehran.
